The Idea Overview When it comes to “periods” Mother Nature doesn’t care whether you’re black, white, purple, or polka-dotted, Republican or Democrat, Buddhist or Atheist, straight or gay, as long as you’re a human female and somewhere between the ages of 8 and 55. Minus pregnancies, nursing, hysterectomies, or some unusual health challenge, women cycle day in and day out for approximately 40 years of their lives. Yet this basic premise of what makes me female is an uncomfortable, if not taboo, subject. Due to lack of information, embarrassment, or violence against them, women worldwide often suffer in silence from its sometimes chaotic effects, which influence their lives in every way – including parenting, friendships, and their sexual relationship. As an employer, instructor, former cosmetologist, confidante, longtime mentor and women’s advocate, I continue to observe that young women often don’t feel well on a consistent basis. One-third more women miss work than men. According to my current case study, 94% of the women feel that their monthly cycles disrupt their lives in some large or small way, yet they don’t know how to tame the lion. I see most women going 24/7 no matter what is happening with them personally. Often they are quietly dealing with heavy bleeding, on-going fatigue, extreme breast tenderness, or headaches. It would help a lot if their guy could understand and be willing to be incorporated into the process. A first-in-a-series book, Four Seasons in Four Weeks, promotes awareness and an enlightened view of the natural rhythm of women. It targets women ages 25–50, guiding them through the ups and downs of their monthly cycles, using straight-talk humor, heart-felt stories, history, facts, tools, expert opinions, and an easy to understand four week strategy for creating a smoother experience. The format used to understand the female cycle is a concept that guys also “get” — it takes the mystery and guess work out when initiating sex or other communication. The premise for my book is simple: I break down the approximate 28 days of the monthly cycle into four weeks, revealing the easy-to-understand hormonal sequence of women. I call these four weeks the four weekly seasons: fall, winter, spring, and summer — because the general effect that the constantly changing hormones have on a woman’s body tend to look like the characteristics of these seasons. Upon reviewing my entries one day, the words fall, winter, spring, and summer literally floated to the surface, showing me four distinguishable weeks which blend together beautifully; each one highly important for setting the stage for the next. From that day forward, I began to understand the pattern of a rhythm I didn’t know I had. I began predicting how I would feel during the upcoming days throughout the whole cycle, and eventually my rhythm was an integral part of my day planner. Feeling connected to my natural rhythm keeps me centered, strong, focused, empowered, confident, and yes, even happy. My self-worth is solid, my boundaries are clear, my energy vast, and my vision for my future, wide open. Society already breaks down this monthly cycle into weeks by speaking of PMS and periods. These two weeks are not spoken well of and women continue to be the ongoing receivers of crude remarks and jokes, which is uncomfortable and humiliating, if not accusatory. Women are often labeled as emotional and unpredictable, or even worse, difficult, which creates prejudice and sometimes dire consequences at home and work. Popular books on the market also seem to focus on one particular week, unless they are speaking of a woman’s monthly cycle as part of an overall medical guide. Breaking down the monthly cycle into weeks is a pattern that is easy for the public to accept since this system is already partially in place. The four weekly seasons system is merely a starting point for understanding one’s monthly rhythm. This is a very broad template. The tools I’ve developed help a woman feel supported in making better food, exercise, business, and relationship decisions by carefully tracking her own cycle and learning how to tune into herself. She may discover that her weeks don’t look anything like the seasons I present. Great! She’s finding her own identity. One size does not fit all. Awareness is what we’re really after here. Sign up for our e-Letter to be notified when the book is released! The natural monthly rhythm is what makes us female and thereby it’s our power source. In its most realized and beautiful form, when we are in touch, we are at our healthiest in body, mind, and spirit. Throughout history and for numerous reasons this power slowly vanished. The monthly cycle became a private and unspeakable thing in society, and became “The Curse.” To this day women feel dishonored and have lost touch with their rhythm altogether for the most part. They will need to dig deeply for the energy needed to find their way home to their individual core. As this momentum builds, transformation will be radical and guaranteed. You may or may not know that before artificial lighting women used to be in sync with the moon, starting their periods on or close to the new moon, cycling together as a group, and ovulating on or around the full moon. There are many theories about this, one being that the infant survival rate was higher when women birthed and nursed together. If something happened to the mother, there would always be someone else there to nurse the baby. Sign up for our e-Letter to be notified when the book is released! For the most part, today’s woman no longer cycles directly with the moon, but if there are other females living under the same roof they often still cycle together. There is much debate over the validity of this, but if you stop asking the researchers and start asking the women, you’ll find there is truth in it or at least reason to continue investigating. I find this to be an amazing phenomenon because there seems to be a force at work that demands that women work as a team for maximum power and effectiveness. Or perhaps something else has not yet been revealed. Reserve your copy NOW and receive a FREE downloadable tracking chart at time of purchase! The principles taught in this book begin with a single woman and from there go way beyond. They’re about changing the way the world views women by changing the way women view themselves. I see our natural monthly rhythm as a microcosm of the way we fit into the organic pulse of the earth and our interconnected human relationships. History has forced women out and away from their core, often finding themselves not being heard at home or in the world. When women heal themselves by spiraling back to their center, understanding the power they possess to make the proper decisions for their health and relationships, they will begin to understand the power they possess to make the proper decisions for the larger world they live in, helping to heal the planet and our many challenges. When they regain respect for themselves by understanding their true personal power, the world will have no choice but to follow suit. Positive societal change also begins with a single man. Learning his partner’s four weekly seasons will help him to understand and participate in his relationship on a deeper level, as well as feel more successful in being supportive of her. Once established in the home, I believe a whole new respect for females will quickly ripple out into the world at large into a healthier balance. It is my belief that men and women are naturally supposed to live harmoniously, with love, laughter, and respect. Sign up for our e-Letter to be notified when the book is released! On a even larger scale, society does not embrace the feminine, therefore the worldly things we consider to be feminine such as healthcare (nurturing), proper shelter (home and hearth), and the environment (Mother Nature, Mother Earth) have not been cared for and have been allowed to deteriorate at epic proportions. The world’s Yang is completely out of control, and the Yin has almost disappeared, both having taken on unidentifiable forms. It’s time to make real change and it starts with individual action. Having said all that, this book’s main character is the natural female monthly rhythm, and her heroine is the Four-Seasons-in-Four-Weeks system. The book is broken into four parts, beginning with a brief overview of history, culture, and challenges for women and the world. Part Two describes the Four Weekly Seasons, and Part Three shows how to incorporate those weekly seasons into daily life. Part Four is a brief conclusion with a call to action for women and men to consider the bigger picture and to personally begin the transformation needed. As an author, I am hoping to deliver a new message of solution and resolution with joy and harmony for a healthier world.
